Take a fresh immersion into iconic Cape Cod with true stories—ranging from the 17th through the 20th centuries—that never made the local newspapers back in the day.

The book is divided into two sections.  In Home, Heart, and Community, one of 35 tales includes our young Elizabeth, a teenager from a prominent family who fell pregnant in 1866. Her shocking actions to save her family the disgrace of being an unwed mother met with disastrous results.

The second half of the book, Tragedy and Terror:  At Sea, 1626-1956, highlights 17 tales including when British marines kidnapped Captain Matthew Mayo of Eastham aboard a schooner in Cape Cod Bay during the War of 1812, but the sly skipper turned the tables on the unsuspecting sailors and escaped. Essentially a history of Cape Cod albeit in essay form, True Accounts will introduce you to a new side of Cape Cod.
